Program informationApplications accepted July 1 – March 15 on a first-come, first-served basis Each year SaskPower Shand Greenhouse produces hundreds of thousands of tree seedlings to distribute throughout Saskatchewan in support of education, conservation and habitat enhancement efforts. These seedlings are grown in the Shand Greenhouse utilizing waste heat from the adjacent Shand Power Station. Producing and distributing seedlings is one important way in which SaskPower fulfills our commitment to environmental responsibility, while providing our customers with a safe, reliable and affordable source of electricity. Selection Criteria:Shand Greenhouse provides tree and shrub species to eligible groups for the following purposes:
Who is Eligible?All projects that meet the above selections criteria and will be planted on land holdings no less than 4.04ha (10 acres) are eligible provided the intent of the project is not the following: aesthetic landscaping immediately adjacent to a home, business or cottage; where harvesting of the plants or their products is primarily intended to produce profit or gain; or where the planting is required by law or to address environmental impacts identified as part of an environmental assessment. Seedlings will be provided upon review of each individual application and processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Shand Greenhouse management reserves the right to restrict the number and types of species going to projects as it sees fit. All applications are subject to approval based on the requirements stated and may be declined at the discretion of the Shand Greenhouse. |
